DO NOT TRUST RESELLERRATINGS.COM

This post is about why we do not trust ResellerRatings.com

… let me explain. But don’t just trust me. Look up “ResellerRatings extortion scam” on Google (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=resellerratings+extortion+scam) to see all of those who agree.

ResellerRatings (‘RR’) offers a free service which allows companies to collect reviews from their users, on the condition that they are, of course, honest and unsolicited. This means customers cannot be asked explicitly to leave feedback. It is important to note that companies can pay a (very high) premium for the privilege of being able to solicit feedback.

Back in 2011 FreeUnlocks sought, and received, express approval from ResellerRatings to show potential customers (that is, before they ordered) some of the reviews we had received in order to prove our trustworthiness. RR of course granted such approval because it only makes sense that we can send customers’ a link to the reviews that we had prior received, obviously. We were sending these to many hesitant customers, before they ordered, who then proceeded to leave positive feedback *after* the order because they were completely satisfied with our service. Of course, this does not violate any of RR’s ToS because we were not soliciting reviews after the customers ordered; they were merely sent the link *before* they ordered. This is totally allowed.

In 2012, after we had received dozens of legitimate reviews leaving us with a healthy rating, we noticed that RR had removed *only* the positive reviews (leaving the negative reviews that you still see there now, should you wish to check), claiming that we had engaged in the soliciting of all the reviews. This is blatantly untrue. Despite explaining to them that we had encountered only one instance of our staff member showing a customer where to leave a review after they ordered, and that it would not/did not happen again, they proceeded to permanently delete the positive reviews. Why didn’t they delete the negative reviews you might ask? Good question…

To me, it only proves that RR is not a legitimate company. They left the negative reviews because they wanted to blackmail us into paying full price for their service in order to reinstate the positive reviews. Yet they refused to remove the negative ones as well should I have chosen not to pay for their service. NB: The negative reviews were received in the same way as the positive ones — honest and unsolicited (although I’d argue mistaken ;)).

To this day, RR continue to allow visitors to leave negative reviews (which, if I may note, are often due to customers not knowing how to process their unlock codes, which of course we are able to assist with at our dedicated support department) whilst filtering only the positive ones.

ResellerRatings charges a minimum of $249 monthly, which we refuse to pay out of principle. If you want to see legitimate and honest reviews, please don’t refer to our negative ResellerRatings.com ratings. Please instead refer to these honest companies who operating genuine businesses collecting genuine reviews from actual customers:
