The first thing you must take into consideration is how you are going to pay for services.  Below are the options that you have if your mobile phone is locked to a mobile phone service provider:

• Paying for each for every minute of voice, text and MB of data s you use,
• If you are locked to Verizon you can use the global value plan which goes for $4.99.  This plan has reduced rates for text and voice.
• Use 100MB of data for $25

As you can see all these plans are very expensive.  Thanks to free Wi-Fi Hotspots in hotels, airports and some city centers, but you don’t expect to get this in every country.   For an unlocked mobile phone you can use a SIM card from a mobile phone service provider from the country that you are visiting. You will thus pay less for every service and save all the monies you should have used to pay for roaming charges.

Any mobile phone can be unlocked easily online if you have its IMEI code and the mobile phone service provider that has locked it.  The IMEI code is the unique code that is used for the purposes of uniquely identifying the mobile phone from all the others. You can find this code for your Samsung galaxy S3 below its battery or y simply dialing *#06#. With your IMEI code you can get free unlock codes for any of your mobile phones,

You may ask why you have to unlock that mobile phone. The good thing about an unlocked mobile phone is the flexibility it gives you to use any mobile phone service provider. This means you can easily grab offers by competing mobile phone service providers.  These service providers are always competing for the marketing and give offers once in a while to entice prospects.  Also with a mobile phone that is unlocked you will make calls at lower rates from abroad. This is because you can use a SIM card from a service provider from the country that you are visiting in your mobile phone.  And finally an unlocked mobile phone is more valued in the market than one that ids locked which means you can resell that mobile phone more expensively if it is unlocked than when it is locked.
